Playing the Bells

For Hallowe'en and All Saints, October 31, 2021

(From a walk up McCallum Street to the playing chamber.  Video by Eve Gentieu, Peter Gentieu playing the chime.)

Hearing the bells while walking towards the church.
"For they dear saints, O Lord," tune: Saint George by Henry J. Gauntlett, 1848.

Ascending the tower to the playing chamber.
"Hark! the sound of holy voices," tune: Moultrie by Gerard F. Cobb, 1838-1904.

Christmas Eve 2021

Peter Gentieu playing "Angels We Have Heard on High."

Changes - varied bell sequences
Ringing patterns as opposed to melodies is another option for this chime.  Change-ringing lies in the domain of another type of bell set-up, but can be mimicked with the Meneely console.  We usually begin and end Sunday morning ringing with a series of changes.

Alleluia, alleluia! Give thanks to the risen Lord.

Tune:  Alleluia No. 1 by Donald Fishel

To God be the glory!

Tune:  To God Be The Glory by William H. Doane, 1875

Video by Nelson Gonzales-Sandoval, played by Peter Gentieu

(This was played on June 20, 2017 to commemorate the 202nd anniversary of the birth of Edwin Jefferies, hence the familiar tune afterwards.  The hymn itself reflects the dedication of the chime:
"The chimes in this tower were erected by Elizabeth Jefferies to the glory of God and in
loving memory of her husband Edwin Jefferies
who was for twenty-five years a vestryman of this parish - 1899"
